The 12-credit PhD minor in Curatorship can be earned by either a classroom-only or a combined classroom + practicum track.
If you are interested in earning the PhD minor in Curatorship via the Classroom Track, you must complete six to nine credits from the following list:
- HIST-H 697 History of Collections and Museums
- FOLK-F 731 (or SPEA-Y 506) Curatorship
- FOLK-F 730 (or ANTH E-633 or ARTH A-691) Exhibitions
- ILS-Z 503 Representation and Organization
and
- three to six approved Curatorship elective credits.
If you are interested in earning the PhD minor in Curatorship via the Classroom + Practicum Track, you must complete at least three credits from the following list:
- HIST-H 697 History of Collections and Museums
- FOLK-F 731 (or SPEA-Y 506) Curatorship
- FOLK-F 730 (or ANTH E-633 or ARTH A-691) Exhibitions
- ILS-Z 503 Representation and Organization
and
- at least three Curatorship electives credits
and
- at least three Curatorship practicum credits.
Please note: A) Only three credits from your major department can be used to satisfy the minor requirements. B) Your major department may decide to not apply any credit from the minor to the major. C) All exceptions require you to submit the “Request for Substitution or Waiver of Program Requirements” eDoc found in One.IU.
